Biography

Marc Ka-Chun CHONG received his BSc degree in Statistics and the PhD degree in Public Health from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2006 and 2011 respectively. He became a postdoctoral fellow after completing his PhD study and has been appointed as a research assistant professor and assistant professor respectively in 2015 and 2019 in CUHK. He is interested in mathematical modelling in public health applications such as infectious disease modelling and health policy evaluation. He is also an Associate Researcher (by courtesy) in Shenzhen Research Institute and Assistant Professor (by courtesy) in Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine in CUHK.

Marc works as a biostatistician in the Centre for Clinical Research and Biostatistics (former Centre for Clinical Trials) since 2006, possessing rich experience in conducting various statistical analysis of academic and industrial clinical trials. He is/was also a statistical consultant for different official projects, for example, Development of Refined Population-based Model to Inform Resource Allocation, Surgical Outcomes Monitoring and Improvement Programme, and Intensive Care Units Outcomes Monitoring Program held by Hospital Authority.

In 2012, Marc got the Best Young Scholars Paper Award in the Second Joint Biostatistics Symposium (Beijing). Since the start of his early career in late 2015, he authored and co-authored 37 research papers. He is/was a principal investigator of eight research and teaching grants. Currently, he is the Statistical Advisor of the Hong Kong Medical Journal and Academic/Associate Editors for several international journals. Marc is a course coordinator for Biostatistics (PHPC2015), Topics in Linear Models (BIOS6001), and Pharmaceutical Statistics Computing in SAS (BIOS5007).
